Meetings:

The Mosman High Art Committee raises funds for the school's art department including materials, learning aids, talks and excursions - anything that is required to enrich the learning and teaching process for all students and staff.

We also contribute hands-on involvement, with working bees to assist preparing the art block for the popular annual Art Exhibition that showcases Year 12 HSC major works and the work of Years 7 to 11.

Each year the Mosman High Art Committee produces a hardcover book of the HSC art students' major works. The students receive a copy on graduation and Principal Susan Wyatt proudly presents them as gifts on her official visits.

In 2015 we ran our first major fundraising event, the AnonyMos Secret Artist Project, an art sale and exhibition of anonymous, untitled 8”x 8” canvases. Established and emerging artists, Mosman High teachers, parents, ex-students and some of our talented students, donated an artwork on the canvas provided. The generous support of the artists, as well as local businesses and the school community, was amazing!

The Art Committee has also hosted events such as:

THE MOSMAN ART WALK

Launched in 2021, The Mosman Art Walk is a community event presented by the Mosman High Art Committee in partnership with Mosman High School and Mosman Council.

In 2022, the walk has expanded and takes place over 19 days, 24 February - 14 March, supporting local businesses and local artists, as well as our local high school's talented young art students.

The aim is to encourage people to get out and about and enjoy Mosman's beautiful shopping village while viewing great artworks, from paintings to sculptures to etchings, many by people who live and work in Mosman. Some of Australia's most respected artists are taking part, including Ken Done, Ann Cape, Sophie Cape, Ian Grant and Mirra Whale.

During the event, you can walk around Mosman Village and view around 40 artworks from professional artists in selected shop windows. All works are for sale, so if you see something you like, you can place a bid on it by scanning the QR code featured in the shop window.

Of the sale proceeds, 75% goes to the contributing artists and 25% as a generous donation to support art education at Mosman High School.

Take your time and enjoy wandering around the streets. You can do the walk all in one go or take a break and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner en route. The walk is about 3 km and you can go as quickly or slowly as you like. So grab the kids, a friend, the dog or a coffee and experience the best Mosman has to offer with this unique free art exhibition.

Sip and Create

An evening of art-making, wine and nibbles led by our talented teachers. Participants from our Mosman community and school choose a fun, two-hour session of Life Drawing, Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Brooch Making or Print Making.

The Creative Speaker Series

Launched in 2019 with an exciting lineup of speakers including international gallery curators, famous illustrators, film makers and performance artists live on stage. This series was the first of its kind in our school for the Art Department and provides great enrichment to current students and the broader community.

Just like the Mosman Art Walk, these events all share the same aim - to support art education at Mosman High School while creating valuable connections with the local community.
